Our mission is to help people discover and learn about great chocolates which not only make them incredibly happy but also have a positive impact from the cacao tree to the chocolate bar.

Visit the garage in downtown Palo Alto on Saturday mornings between 9 and 1 to explore our full collection of Happy Chocolate or call to arrange an appointment. Beginning Sat Jan 7 you can also pick up Full Belly Farms CSA boxes at the garage. (E-mail csa at fullbellyfarm.com to sign up.)

Tastings

The Chocolate Garage is the place on the Peninsula to find the best and ‘Happiest’ chocolate around. It is also the place to bring your friends and have chocolate tasting soirees. You will leave knowing much more about chocolate and cacao and feeling very good (full of chocolate)!

The Chocolate Garage hosts Happy Chocolate tasting parties by appointment in our downtown Palo Alto location or at a venue of your choice. We are also a source for many hard to find, artisanal chocolate bars. You think chocolate is fun and creative? Consider a team building activity, party, or Happy Chocolate hour for your company!

Happy chocolate?

Happy Chocolate is high quality chocolate that has a positive impact on the people along the supply chain and a positive impact on the planet. Direct Trade, A Stake in the Outcome/Profit Sharing, Bean-to-Bar in Country, Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, Organic, Cooperative Grown Cacao, and Solar Powered are some of the paths to making Happy Chocolate.

Now is an especially exciting time for artisanal chocolate. In the Americas small, innovative bean to bar companies are popping up everywhere! These companies have found many ways to work with cacao farmers in a responsible and equitable way. Some are going the traditional third party certification route, many are not. Direct trade, profit sharing, paying above the Fair Trade market price, doing all the value add in the country where the beans are grown... each approach has merit and we work hard to find the ones that best suit your tastes and values.

Chocolate aficionados know that the field of cacao and chocolate covers everything from chemistry, politics, agriculture, biology, love, neuroreceptors, flavor, exploitation, vasodilation, addiction, and sustainability. To mention a few. Chocolate is varied and complex enough to keep the biggest geek interested for life and the most superficial glutton eating it regularly.

Sunita falls somewhere between those two ends of the spectrum.

Increasing the positive impact of cacao became Sunita's passion more than 6 years ago when she met a native Quechua farmer and began to see how chocolate production affected the health of communities around the world. Sunita brings her scientific training in molecular biology along with a tremendous appetite for yummy food to the table. In addition to hosting tastings, Sunita consults on the creation of new chocolate products.
